EHS student, Elizabeth Marlowe, was the first prize winner in the art category at the Chapman University Holocaust Art and Writing Contest.

PTSA president Sandee Van Oyen had this to say about the contest: "One of our talented Esperanza Art students, Elizabeth Marlowe, placed 1st for the Senior High Art Division in the Chapman University Holocaust Art and Writing Contest. I was very touched by her piece, entitled “Broken”, when I helped judge the contest at our school level back in early January, and it was a very special moment for us when we heard her name announced! Elizabeth was awarded $500.00 and will be heading to Washington , DC in June with her mother and her teacher for an all-expense paid trip to visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum and participate in several educational activities."
