Working on Injections Skills 2021

Our seniors have been putting in a lot of work this year to solidify all of their hands-on skills, carefully abiding by all state, district, and CDC safety guidelines. Although they did not have the wonderful opportunity to get out in the field for their externships they are geared up and ready to take it to the next level!

WE Scare Hunger
This year Esperanza HOSA’s WE project is WE Scare Hunger. One of their starting points is creating a garden to grow food that can be given to the hungry. Students successfully grew their food, and had a Farmer's Market at lunchtime to promote WE Scare Hunger Week. Students also had posters made by our Digital Design class to put up all over campus, walked around at lunch time engaging with their peers, and read statistics everyday over the daily announcements!
Christmas Caroling 2019
Esperanza students from Mrs. Easton's MSA and Mr. Perez' Language Arts classes hit the streets caroling for the residents of Lake Park, a community for those who are 55 and older, to spread some holiday cheer. Students passed out candy canes and over 100 holiday cards made by EHS students at lunch time. They finished the evening with hot chocolate and desserts courtesy of the residents. It was a great night for everyone involved!

Another successful Breast Cancer Awareness Week!
Esperanza HOSA hosted  games at lunch in the quad, sold  T- Shirts for $10, hosted a bake sale selling napkins for $1, and had a themed day of "Pink Out". It was a great turnout, thank you to all the students who participated. In the quad there was face painting to represent breast cancer awareness! The money has not been tallied yet, but the total will be donated to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Organization. MSA students were also representing at Segrestrom Performing Art Center, Costa Mesa for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Keep it up Aztecs!!
Pediatric Cancer Awareness
September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, Esperanza HOSA hosted a card making event for the pediatric patients at CHOC Hospital. The outcome was overwhelming with over 300 cards made! A former MSA Esperanza student who now is a nurse at CHOC, will pick up the cards and will be delivering them to the pediatric patients. Esperanza HOSA and student body hopes to put a smile on the faces of the patients.
