Book Checkout Policy and Information

EHS Library Book Policies

I. Library Book Policy

Students with a current EHS I.D. (Identification) card may check out up to 10 books, for up to 3 weeks and books may be renewed in three week increments. Books may be renewed (checked out again) if the book is brought in to the library for renewal.

Students may only check out 3 books on a single subject. No reference or current periodical material (magazines) may be checked out of the library. Students who lose or damage books beyond normal wear and tear may be assessed a fee for the loss or damages.

A current EHS I.D. card is required to safeguard the student record, prevent loss, and maintain accurate student checkout procedures. Students are required to carry their current EHS I.D. card at all times while on campus per EHS policy.

II. Textbook Policy

Math, Science, AP Euro., Japanese and other textbooks, along with ELA novels textbooks, may be checked out to students with a current EHS I.D. card as needed for home use for their semester or annual classes.

Overdue, Lost, and Damaged Books
Overdue notices are sent to students through student school email accounts. If received, students should come to the library immediately to return or renew the book listed on the notice. Until the debt is resolved, the student may not be allowed to check out books from the library, use other library services, or participate in school events such as dances.

Periodically, indebtedness notices may be sent home and to the finance clerk. The school finance clerk may not sell tickets for EHS activities such as dances and AP test registration. Yearbook or graduation items may also be denied when a student has a debt record.

Students who lose or damage textbooks beyond normal wear and tear may be assessed a fee for the loss or damages. Lost and damaged books are assessed by the current replacement cost plus a $5.00 processing fee.

WATER DAMAGE MAY REQUIRE COMPLETE PAYMENT OF BOOK DUE TO MOLD GROWTH. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH TEXTBOOKS, BACKPACKS, AND WATER BOTTLES!

End of Year books due:

Please turn all library books no later than the announced dates in May and June to avoid being added to debt lists that could affect participation in the end-of-year activities for all students and graduation participation for seniors, and for dances and other ASB events for returning students in the fall.

Please contact the library with any questions.

OPAC stands for Online Public Access Catalog.

EHS OPAC Computer - there is an EHS OPAC computer available in the library for EHS library book searches. OPAC is also available online via a link on the EHS website.

When searching by Author, type the author's last name first, followed by a comma, and then the author's first name.

There is no spell check on OPAC. If spelling is incorrect, the search will not work. Please be sure the spelling and typing is correct to find the book.

A library call number is the code needed to find a book on the shelf. Call numbers always have letters and sometimes have numbers. Be sure and ask if you need assistance.
