Chromebook and Other Device Information

All students should have a district issued chromebook for certain tasks, per district one-to-one student to policy. There are certain tests for which only a district chromebook will work.

 

Bring your chromebook fully charged and ready for school use. There often are only very limited extra tech supplies in the library.

Possible Solutions to common Chromebook problems:

 

Problem:

Chromebook will not work without being plugged in.

 

Solution:

Dormant Chromebooks must be plugged in for 5-15 minutes to reactivate the battery. If a Chromebook is not used for a month or so, the battery can become dormant. Then it may not initially work without being plugged in.

 

Problem:

Chromebook has startup or other issues:

 

Solution:

- Press the refresh key (circle with an arrow) and hold 

Tap the start key

- Press the refresh key and hold for five seconds

Tap the start key

- Press the refresh key and hold for ten seconds

Tap the start key

 

Problem:

Any general issue of poor performance:

 

Solution:

Update the Chrome browser:

1. Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the webpage.
2. Click on Settings, 3rd from the bottom of the menu
3. Click on About Chrome at the bottom of the left menu.
4. Click on To see if your device is up to date – go to Chrome OS Settings
5. Click on the Check for updates box and follow further instructions.
