was an educational program offered to immigrants to help ease them into society this movement help to assimilate immigrants by teaching him to read and write in English this program also help to teach immigrants u.s. history Civics and government what in the most important aspects of the Americanization the event was teaching American etiquette to deal with a culture shock of moving to America  as population swelled and cities grew new Urban problems developed one such problem was good American cities like adequate water mains indoor plumbing and pipe drinking water residence found it hard to bathe or sanitize against disease there was no running water waste disposal and drinking water was usually full of bacteria another problem with sanitation means more trash and more waste it was I'm going to see horse and human waste flowing and gutters in streets poisonous smoke filled the air from factories making it harmful to breathe many cities develop sanitation commissions charge a trash clean up sewer line Construction and waste disposal another problem was housing most Urban families rented single rooms in boarding houses and row houses what houses were large structures that had rooms for rent in real houses rented small rooms in densely packed areas where houses shared walls side-by-side with each other poor ventilation lighting and waste disposal led to Vermon disease and stench it was not uncommon to find multiple families living in one room transportation presented itself as a problem in the urban city populations boomed inadequate mass transit please to congestion and delay it was difficult to repair an old transit systems put new ones so trans it became dangerous and inefficient what are the new popular methods of transportation in the inner city was the electric streetcar the electric streetcar was made popular in the city of San Francisco another form of transportation was the elevated train made popular in the city of Chicago crime also became a terrible problems in the crowded Urban City overcrowding naive immigrants and inadequate police force led to issues with crime pickpockets thieves and Kahneman thrived tricking non-english-speaking immigrants represents and their money the huge problem of crime in densely populated areas led to the mugshot a way of tracking criminals City to City time to discuss with fire and natural disaster City conditions during the Gilded Age were bred for disaster houses and buildings were tightly packed and made of flammable materials neighbor lit by oil lamps which are easily spillable and easily ignitable the firefighters in major cities were simply volunteers without proper training and an adequate water supply to put off when they broke out to natural disasters of the Gilded Age that homeless here we can see some of the devastation brought about by the San Francisco Quake of 1996 to the victors as Urban problems got worse there was an urge for reform to fix the issues new sewer lines and Water Systems enhance sanitation police and fire Apartments train to expand their influence to help the poor and hungry through charity this always to the Social Gospel Movement the social gospel movement social reform movement that sought to secure social justice and better lives for the poor through charity this movement stroke to improve Society by weaving charity and Goodwill was Christian morals meaning the movement was based on Christian values and the Bible Charities were formed to feed the hungry and 10 minutes were created to house the homeless all of these ideas science counteracts social Darwinism with the Bible instead of survival if it was now love thy neighbor the air of urban is during the Gilded Age gave birth one of America's greatest Marvel's the urban city made possible by Steel electricity a booming Urban population and the he is a great individuals the American MegaCity Rose like a monument to American success every major American city today is defined by its Skyline and the people who spin it cities like New York Chicago and Los Angeles defined by the immigrants and the cultures and contributions brought to them during the Gilded Age marbles we have today of how transportation in crime prevention came about from the urban problems of the Gilded Age The Social Gospel Movement which strove to eliminate the problems of urbanization give way to organizations like the Salvation Army Goodwill and the YMCA in America cities continue to remind us today how great we can possibly be
