Course Description

The goal of the AFJROTC program is for cadets to incorporate the values of Respect, Dedication, Teamwork, Self-discipline, and Service in all aspects of their daily lives. The mission of AFJROTC is to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."

Primary instructor: MSgt McDonough ([email protected]

The components and the respective weights of the Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) curriculum are listed below. Each component is taught concurrently throughout the school year:

  • Aeroscience (AS)                                 40%
  • Leadership Education (LE)      40%
  • Physical Fitness (PT)                            20%.

AEROSCIENCE 2 is intended for cadets enrolled in their second year of the AFJROTC program. As with all AFJROTC courses, enrollment is voluntary and should not be construed as a disciplinary tool nor should a student be enrolled without their consent. With successful completion of the course, cadets receive Physical Education credit toward the fulfillment of graduation requirements.  There is NO MILITARY OBLIGATION, nor should this course be considered a ‘recruiting tool’ for the military.

AEROSCIENCE 2 focuses on the following areas:

  • Aviation History – Explores the development of flight throughout the centuries.  It starts with ancient civilizations, then progresses through time to modern days.  It emphasizes civilian and military contributions to aviation, the development and modernization of the United States Air Force, and a brief history of astronomy and space exploration.
  • Leadership Education – Utilizes underlying themes of character, integrity, service and excellence to improve critical thinking, awareness of self, effective writing and public speaking.
  • Cadets will participate in an exercise program led and designed by senior cadets each week.  The Wellness program’s goal is for all cadets to pass the AFJROTC Physical Fitness Test.

Prerequisites: AEROSCIENCE 1 or instructor approval.
