Basic Algebra 1-B (Period 5)

Course Description

This is the second of a two-year course in Algebra 1.  In order for students to receive full credit for graduation, students must successfully complete both Algebra 1-A and Algebra 1-B.  In this course, students develop an understanding of advanced computation of rational numbers, simple and compound interest, exponent rules and expressions, graphically representing quantitative relationships, linear and non-linear functions, and interpreting/evaluating integer powers and roots.  Balanced approaches of formal and informal investigation help students to present solutions to traditional and real-world problems.  Individual learning styles will be considered, along with the IEP goals, to best meet the needs of students with special needs.
