Attendance & Tardy Procedures
The goal of Esperanza High School is to assist each student to become a productive and effective citizen in our democratic society. We believe that a quality education will benefit the student in his or her future endeavors. In our experiences we have found that there is a direct correlation existing between a student's attendance habits and his or her academic success. It is vitally important that students attend school on a consistent basis. The Esperanza High School Attendance Policies have been established to provide motivation for our students to be in attendance so that they may achieve their full potential
If a student is absent one or more periods, the student must clear the absence in one of the following ways:
- NEW!!!- It is highly recommended that parents fill out this GOOGLE FORM the same day of the absence or at least 24 hours prior to a pre-arranged absence (i.e., dental or medical appointment) to ensure the student can expeditiously exit campus or return to campus. The Google Attendance Form is connected only to the guardians email on file, and is the only one that will be accepted as valid.
- The Absence Line phone number is (714) 986-7540 and press option 4. When leaving a voice message, please leave your students first and last name, grade level, student ID Number if known, your first and last name, and the phone number to reach you if needed.
- If a student returns to school after a full day or partial day absence and the guardian did not call in the previous day, he/she must be in the attendance office with a Written Note prior to the start of the school day or they may be marked tardy to their first period class and may be subject to a teacher detention.
- Students have 48 hours once they return to school to clear an absence by a guardian; Phone Call, Google Form, or Signed Note before it becomes a permanent truancy and Saturday Hours are assigned.
- If a student attends classes and then leaves without obtaining an Off-Campus Pass from the Attendance Office, the periods missed will be marked as truant and Saturday Hours are assigned.
OFF CAMPUS PERMITS:
- If a student must leave campus for any reason during their school day the student must obtain an Off-Campus Pass from the Attendance Office prior to leaving campus. The student should bring a note from a guardian to the Attendance Office prior to leaving school, and during break. Students who leave campus without an Off Campus Permit will be considered "Out of Bounds" and will be given a permanent Truancy.
The Attendance office opens at 7:00 a.m. Students returning to school after an absence should arrive early to obtain a readmit. STANDING IN LINE FOR A RE-ADMIT WILL NOT EXCUSE TARDINESS TO CLASS.
