Course Description

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT - Creativity and passion are the tools that bring education and learning to life. This year’s curriculum will encourage each student to develop confidence and poise through various group, individual, and performance activities.

 

CLASSROOM GOALS – As a group, our goals are to encourage excellence, praise effort, listen attentively, work diligently, and strive for the best. The desired goal is to expand and further your education from Beginning/Intermediate Theatre Arts.

 

INTERMEDIATE COURSE DESCRIPTION - This course is one year in length. The curriculum will incorporate the California Theatre Content Standards. Intermediate Theatre Arts is designed to provide the student with an overall appreciation of theater as a performing art, as well as enhance production skills. It will acquaint the student with monologue audition preparation, refined improvisation skills, and one act play productions. In addition, the course will continue to develop the fundamentals of play production, technical theatre, dramatic literature, and theatre history.

ADVANCED COURSE DESCRIPTION - This course is one year in length. The curriculum will incorporate the California Theatre Content Standards. Advanced Theatre Arts is designed to provide the student with an overall appreciation of theater as a performing art, as well as enhance production skills. It will acquaint the student with theatre theorists and their exercises. In addition, the course will continue to incorporate the fundamentals of play production, technical theatre, dramatic literature, and theatre history.
