College Prep Economics is a single semester course, designed in reference to the California Standards in the field of Economics to provide a top-level and real world educational experience to high school students. With the use of multiple scholastic and real world sources for information, investigation, and study, the course journeys through the inner working of various economic systems with specific focus on individual consumers and producers and the basic principles of economics. Course subject matter will provide opportunities to analyze and evaluate the market system, the players, institutions, and phenomena within those markets, as well as the government’s role during instances of market failure. The course also examines the basic macroeconomic principles of world markets and international trade, business structures, monetary and fiscal policy, and banking and financing.
