workplace equality despite the need for labor during the war African Americans were still hired laugh he felt it was unfair and wanted to make a change Mexican Americans also faced Prejudice during the war when American sailor was attacked by perceived Mexican-American wearing what is called a Zoot Suit which is known as a long suit which uses an excess of fabric Taylor's became outraged by the would help the enemy attack from within was real and because of this Japanese-Americans along the west coast suffered discrimination on February 12th 1942 without any probable cause Franklin Roosevelt issues the executive order 90662 military establish motorized zones along the west Japanese Americans were forced to leave their homes at the point of a gun and move to these clothes camps within weeks 110,000 Japanese-Americans from California Arizona and Washington remove to internment camps two-thirds of them were nice safe or first generation Japanese Americans they were only able to bring what they could carry and many foster homes in their businesses for those Japanese Americans who didn't is our home when they return from the camps they found the homes ransack trash and vandalized in 1944 the Supreme Court heard a case korematsu versus the United States Fred korematsu was a Japanese-American who was interred with his family during the war he challenged the constitutionality of Japanese internment and a viola have a civil rights however in their decision the Supreme Court rule that the forced relocation of Japanese-Americans was Justified on the basis of military necessity or natural the Supreme Court essentially stated that based on the evidence provided time the United States and government inter Japanese Americans to protect the war effort from potential Espionage and sabotage do the war Japanese Americans form the Japanese-American Citizens League or jacl this group fought after the war for compensation for the Injustice the Japanese during the war in 1965 the United States Congress agreed to compensation but less than 10% of Japanese-American victims were compensated for the losses during the war in 1990 what is Congress promised $20,000 to any victims and President Bush apologize formally on behalf of the United States government with American soldiers struggling on the battlefield Americans at home going as well minorities and women were fighting for the acceptance that they deserved as contributing members of society in the United States government was trying its best to dig the American economy open depression and helped to fuel the war thousands of miles away
