Take It on the Run on the run on the Run hear them boys are off to fight but first America must prepare its military for the fight the American Military was undermanned and ill-equipped for World War one only two hundred thousand men were in the Army at the time that America Star War and the training is had no real weapons to train with set of guns most trained with broom sticks in order to prepare the American Military and boost its numbers Congress passed the what does service at this enacted a draft for the US military requiring young man turn into age of 18 to register for military service 24 million turn register 3 million men were called into service despite these huge numbers of Americans calling to serve the Army still remain segregated with white and black regiments biting step it wasn't just the number of soldiers that needed to be boosted it was also the equipment factories converted assembly lines for making cars into making military goods American factories were Trina massive numbers of Tanks submarines planes guns and other ammunition to help America win the war now we need what are men and a weapons to Europe in order to do this the United States use the convoy system Navy destroyers escort and cargo ships that carried our man in our supplies pause the Atlantic Ocean these heavily armored naval ships with surround the more vulnerable cargo ships protecting them from German U-Boat attacks the convoy system was success entrematic cut the losses due to submarine attacks in the Atlantic Ocean what the same time safely getting our men and our cargo to Europe once arriving in Europe American Military went to work for in the American expeditionary Force known as the AEF led by General John Blackjack Pershing the pot is a what army from other Allied Forces the Infuse new blood into the Allied effort and we're affection known as Doughboys and Yang's Wilbur one was known as the first modern war and is the era of mechanized Warfare we see the introduction of Tanks airplanes machine guns and poison gas along with other weapons of mass destruction Americans quickly learned that old tax play trench warfare in running in lines would not work against these new Advanced weapons were one also introduces new Terrors of War naive US soldiers suffered shell shock poshak is it for a PTSD or post-traumatic stress syndrome the constant showing of the battlefield traumatize these men and permanently scarred their minds other whores including what is the feet and the mouth known as trench foot or trench mouth we also see American Heroes on the battlefield once a year was Alvin York York was one of the most decorated soldiers in the play States Army you receive the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a German Machine Gun Nest taking 32 machine guns killing 20 German soldiers and capturing 132 others another Heroes Eddie Rickenbacker who's an American fighter Ace and a Medal of Honor recipient with 26 aerial victories he was America's most accessible fighter in the war well American horses are fighting on European battlefields on the homefront the deal with unprecedented War needs Congress President Woodrow Wilson New agency was The Food Administration this group Americans to go without certain food products like sugar and meat on certain days of the week it also encouraged Americans to plant their own Victory Gardens in their front and back yards so that more of our food grown here at home can make its way to our troops in Europe the last agency was the national War labor board this group improve factory conditions and ban child labor also focused on settling labor disputes during the war if labor unions decided to strike for better working conditions during the war it could hurt our ability to win the war the national War current board acted as an arbitrator to ensure that American working conditions for proper and would prevent worker strikes during the war with all this happening on the homefront enormously wealthy during the war however the wealth was unevenly divided Corporation saw high demand for supplies which meant high prices big sales huge profits stock values Rising thousands of percent Farmers also saw benefits with high prices Farmers made profits they are able to buy more land and plan more crops because of never food was so high on the homefront and in the war farmers are able to gain huge profits but the average American didn't benefit as much as the others with wages and income Rising price of spiking families didn't benefit so much they may have made him more money but they are also paying more for products the intense effort on the homefront to win the war also bread and turns at suspicion in the general population American society and its Constitution during the war a massive wave of anti-immigrant Hysteria swept Eastern Europeans for tickling those of dramatic Heritage face Prejudice due to the fact of suspected treachery and Espionage on behalf of the Central Powers many Americans felt immigrants that came from the countries of the Central Powers might be helping them by spying on the United States soon German food music and books next in German names were changed sauerkraut became Liberty cabbage hamburgers became Liberty sandwiches even American families who had German last names change their names escape the suspicion even the US government attack civil liberties of citizens the Espionage and Sedition Acts passed in 1917 and 1980 made it illegal criticize the government and the war effort like the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1789 these acts violated People's First Amendment rights to freedom of speech boat laws we targeted socialists and labor unions because they feared that they were working against the war effort if you spoke out against the president or talked about the war you were under threat in jail under these acts the war effort also brought home Great Migration left the South and move to Northern cities and drugs they filled factory jobs left vacant by men going to war they also flood racial discrimination an agricultural servitude during the war every Northern cities size spike in African American population  women's roles are also extended in society with men away at War women filled their factory jobs at a lower wage their work and blue collar jobs gave support and credibility to the Women's Suffrage moving this was the movement to give women the right to vote is American troops Infuse new energy on the battlefields of Europe the war effort at home Infuse new energy in American society it showed the American people what Skip Beat the American Military has flexed its muscle showing it to Midas the strongest military on Earth on European battlefields American Industries have turned out the supplies Mass numbers  we began to tackle our social issues allowing groups to contribute to the war effort and show their Worth to their fellow citizens and read Americans in the cause of Defending democracy everywhere around the world
