long growing tensions between the North and South over the issue of slavery erupted into the Civil War in 1861 Henry 1860 hemperly 1861 seven southern states seceded from United States and form for Confederate States of America on April 12th 1861 Confederate forces bombarded Fort Sumter turn the harbor of Charleston South Carolina after Federal force and refused to turn it over to South Carolina's true  War has begun the day after Fort Sumter surrender President Abraham Lincoln called for the remaining states in the union to send troops to put down the rebellion and the stuff Dune men on both sides eager signed up to fight fermion people believe that the war would end quickly Spectators even packed picnic meal to watch the first major fight of the war the bat Bull Run  but the Civil War was unlike any previous conflict it was the world industrial War  mass produced weapons and trench warfare resulted in huge losses on both sides  Curtis truck homes in farm brought the war home to civilians  the struggle room anything but where at first the stealth more than held its own against the North  Confederate General Robert E Lee great success against the Union early in the war  many Southerners felt that if itself can hold on long enough people in the north would have show me lose the will to fight and let the Confederate States go  put on January 1st 1863 President Lincoln made of magic change in the war he issued the Emancipation Proclamation the proclamation made slavery illegal in the plane robelli Southern States seen here in like Greg although it's in the dark loyal to the union Lincoln's Proclamation shift in emphasis of the war  now it was more than a fight to keep the nation together he was I struggle to free the slaves  eventually the north larger population and greater in Dutch your power over King South General Robert E Lee surrender to Union General Ulysses S Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9th 65  other Southern Army also surrendered and the war was over  the north Victory came at a huge Constable Warhead race car for long and bloody years much of the cell May in Ruins countless families lost their homes I'm more than 600,000 soldiers that died  more than the American losses World War 1 & 2 Korea and Vietnam put together  but after the smoke cleared and the dead were buried the union was Preserve the authority of the federal government with solidify and slavery wasn't it
