SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
$1,500 to $22,000 scholarships are available to outstanding seniors planning to MAJOR IN ENGINEERING AND OTHER RELATED SCIENCES in a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.  Student must be a United States citizen, have at least a 3.5 G.P.A., and rank in at least the 90th percentile in both verbal and math on the SAT.    Download applications at www.sae.org/students/engschlr.htm Application deadline is December 1.
SALLIE MAE’S PARENT ANSWER SCHOLARSHIP:
Twenty (20) $1,000 scholarships will be provided to help families pay for college.  Parents must fill out the application for this scholarship at www.parentanswer.com/scholarships  Applications cannot be filled out until early April.
SAMMY (SCHOLAR ATHLETE MUSTACHE OF THE YEAR) AWARD PROGRAM:
Twenty-five $7,500 awards to SCHOLAR-ATHLETES who EXCEL academically and athletically and show leadership in community service.  You must apply online at www.bodybymilk.com.  Application deadline is March 1.
SERAFINES DE ORANGE COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
Thirty $500 scholarships to Orange County seniors of HISPANIC PARENTAGE.  Awards will be paid directly to the college of students' choice.  Esperanza counselors may nominate two Latino seniors who have not been awarded any major monetary awards on the basis of academic performance, citizenship, and financial need, which is given some consideration.  Students will be interviewed at the Orange County Board of Education in mid April. 
SIGMA PHI  EPSILON BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP:
One $500 award to the outstanding male freshman entering San Francisco State University next year.  Must excel in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics, AND community service.   Acceptance of award DOES NOT OBLIGATE STUDENT TO JOIN FRATERNITY.  Contact Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Balanced Man Scholarship Chairman, 1090 Randolph St., San Francisco, CA. 94132.  Application deadline is June 15.
SIMON YOUTH FOUNDATION NATIONAL COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP:
$1,500 to seniors based on academic record, leadership skills, community and school participation, and financial need.  School transcript and most recent tax forms must be submitted with the application.  Pick up an application at the Customer Information Center at the Brea Mall, starting in mid-November.  Application deadline is February 10th.
SOCIETY OF EXPLORATION GEOPHYSICISTS EDUCATION FOUNDATION:
Scholarships of $750 to $3,000 per year, renewable, to seniors who intend to pursue CAREERS IN EXPLORATION GEOPHYSICS and show an interest in and aptitude for physics, math, and geology.  Need is considered, but student's competence is given first consideration.  Contact Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Foundation Scholarships, Post Office Box 702740, Tulsa, OK 74170-2740, (918) 493-3516.  Application deadline is March 1.
SOCIETY OF HISPANIC PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS FOUNDATION:
$500 - $3,000 awards to deserving students who are seeking careers in ENGINEERING OR SCIENCE.  Academic achievement and financial need are considerations.  Contact SHPE Scholarships, 3900 Whiteside Street, Los Angeles, CA 90063, (323) 415-9600. Application deadline is April 15.
Society of Plastic Engineers:
A $500 prize will be awarded to the winner of this essay contest with potential to compete internationally for more winnings.  The essay must be sponsored by a teacher and is on a topic related to the use of plastics in our society.  For more information, email [email protected] or call (909) 923-9710.  Essay contest deadline is January 15. 
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CABLE AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP:
Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 for students demonstrating a desire to continue their education leading to a career in the Cable and Telecommunications industry.  Applications can be found online at www.sccta.org.
 
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOTHERS OF TWINS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP:
 
If you are a twin, this scholarship is for you. You can apply in tandem with your twin or individually.  You must be an outstanding student and citizen.  Scholarships range from $250 to $1200.
 
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PGA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:
 
This organization offers several different scholarships.  Winners will be chosen on the basis of class ranking, GPA, test scores, extracurricular activities, and financial need.  You DO NOT need to play golf to win this scholarship.  Applications are available at www.scpga.com under “Junior Golf Foundation after March 1st.
 
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RELOCATION COUNCIL:
 
If you are new to Orange County in the past two years and moved from at least 50 miles away, $1000-$2000 scholarships are available.  Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA.
 
STANLEY BEHRENS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:
 
One renewable scholarship of $5,000 per year to an Orange County student who is planning a career in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Fine Arts, Engineering, or Computer Sciences.  The award is contingent upon the applicant being admitted to UC Irvine.  Minimum requirements include a GPA of 3.5 or above, a family income under $90,000 annually, participation in community service, and satisfy other specific requirements detailed in the application once a student at UCI. 
 
STOKES EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
 
The National Security Agency offers an amazing opportunity for seniors who want to major in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Foreign Language, to work during the summer at NSA in Washington DC in the area of Signals Intelligence or Information Assurance.  In turn, the NSA will pay your college tuition.  Applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 1600 or an ACT score of 25, a minimum 3.0, and leadership abilities.  Apply online at www.nsa.gov and then click on “careers”, or call 866-672-4473, select “student programs” and then “stokes”.  Apply by November 30.
 
STUDENT OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS:
 
Scholarships for young persons with limited opportunities who are members of RACIAL/ETHNIC GROUPS AND ARE RELATED TO THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.).  Must be entering college as an incoming freshman and apply to college for financial aid. Amount of awards:  $100 to $1,400.  Those eligible should write between January 15 and March 15 to Student Opportunity Scholarships, Presbyterian Church U.S.A., Church Vocations Unit, 100 Witherspoon St., Louisville, KY 40202-1396, (502) 569-5760.  Application deadline is April 1.
 
SUNKIST GROWERS, A.W. BODINE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
 
$1,000 to $2,000 scholarships, depending on financial condition and college costs.  Seniors must have application pending at an accredited college or university next fall.  Student MUST HAVE FAMILY OR PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION OR SERVICES.  No restriction as to field of study. Selection based on G.P.A. (3.0 minimum), S.A.T. scores, 500 word essay, financial need and recommendations. 
 
TARGET:

TAU KAPPA EPSILON INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY TRIANGLE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS:

TEYA ALBERTAIN FOUNDATION FOR INVOLVEMENT AWARDS:
 
Two $2,500 awards to seniors who have shown outstanding LEADERSHIP QUALITIES and have excelled in INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES.  Resume, transcript, letters of recommendation, and 250 word essay are required.  Contact Teya Albertain Foundation for Involvement, 5128 Brywill Circle, Sarasota, FL  34234-2708.  Application deadline is January 15.
 
TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS:
 
Two students from Esperanza will be nominated to apply for this national scholarship.  Toyota is seeking a student who has an outstanding academic record, who is an effective leader, and has a well-documented record of service both with in and outside the school setting.  The distinguishing characteristic will be the overall impact of the student’s contributions in the area of community service. 
 
TUITION EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIPS:
 
Open to college bound students to WHOSE PARENTS ARE FACULTY OR STAFF MEMBERS AT THE APPROXIMATELY 270 COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES that belong to the organization.  The only access to these scholarships is through the designated liaison officer at the institution where the parent is employed. Contact: Tuition Exchange Officer at parent's place of employment.  Application deadline varies.
 
TYLENOL BRAND SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Ten $10,000 and 500 $1,000 awards to seniors with OUTSTANDING academic records (3.5 +) AND leadership records at school and in the community who are planning on pursuing a career in the medical field.  Applications may be obtained at Albertson Markets between November 1 and December 1.  Application deadline is January 15.
 

TZU CHI SCHOLARS:

The Tzu Chi Foundation, a Taiwan Buddist organization, selects scholarship winners across the nation on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement.  Applications can be found at www.tzuchi.org.  The deadline to apply is usually the end of March.
 
UNITED STATES BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS:
 
$200 to $7,000 awards to U.S. Citizens who are one-quarter NATIVE AMERICAN, ESKIMO, OR ALEUT of a tribe served by the Bureau.   Must be accepted to an accredited school and demonstrate FINANCIAL NEED.  Contact U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, 1849 C St., NW, MS 3512-MIB, Washington, D.C. 20240.  Application deadline is April 15.
 
U.S. DEPT. OF INTERIOR-ADMINISTRATORS PROGRAMS INDIAN TRIBAL GRANTS & LOANS:
 
Over 45 INDIAN TRIBES have established their own grant and loan programs to promote higher education for their ENROLLED MEMBERS.  Contacts for tribal assistance should be made through the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Indian Education Programs, 1849 C. UNITED STATES JAYCEE WAR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
 
Six $1,000 scholarships for all areas of study to high school seniors who demonstrate financial need and evidence of academic success, leadership, and family service to country and community. U.C. BERKELEY CHAPTER PI KAPPA PHI FRATERNITY STEVE DEFTOS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
 
$500 scholarship to an entering MALE STUDENT to U.C. Berkeley.  Selection criteria based on school involvement, G.P.A., and community service.  Contact:  Deftos Scholarship, 2908 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.  Application deadline is May 1.
 
U.C. BERKELEY MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Up to full tuition to seniors who are applying to U.C. Berkeley and plan to MAJOR IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.  Must have OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC RECORD and be able to provide evidence of EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND ENGINEERING ORIENTED ACTIVITIES.  For applications, write Ms. Nell Alonzo, Drake Scholarship Committee, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, U.C. UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SYSTEM ALUMNI/REGENTS SCHOLARSHIPS:
 
All campuses offer Alumni and Regents Scholarships of $500 and more.  Each campus has its own scholarship procedures and requirements. THE APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS IS INCLUDED ON THE UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION FORM FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS, including Regents and Alumni scholarships.  To apply for scholarships, complete the scholarship section of the undergraduate application form.  To be considered for scholarships, you must meet the minimum requirements of at least one of the campuses to which you apply for admission.  These requirements are listed in the Campus Requirements for Scholarships in the application form.  Students with outstanding academic records are considered for Regents Scholarships, the University's most prestigious scholarship award.  Awards are based on merit alone; financial need is not a consideration.  Alumni associations at some campuses award scholarships to entering students who have demonstrated leadership, academic achievement, and participation in extracurricular activities.  You do not need to be a relative of an alumnus to apply.  SOME CAMPUSES REQUIRE YOU TO SUBMIT ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION SUCH AS LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION, TRANSCRIPTS, OR AN ESSAY IN ADDITION TO THE ONE REQUESTED ON THE APPLICATION.  (SEE UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION SCHOLARSHIP SECTION.)  Please print your full name as it appears on the undergraduate application form and your social security number at the top of each page of supporting documentation you submit.  Do not enclose these documents with your application form or send them to the central processor.  They will not be forwarded, returned, or retained.  MAIL THE DOCUMENTS TO THE APPROPRIATE CAMPUS OFFICES SPECIFIED IN THE CAMPUS REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS SECTION NO LATER THAN JANUARY 11.  The minimum G.P.A. requirement varies by campus and may also vary by type of scholarship. 
 
 
VETERANS' COLLEGE FEE WAIVER PROGRAM:
 
A graduating senior must be the CHILD OF A U.S. MILITARY VETERAN (inc. National Guard) who has a service-connected disability or who died because of one or who was killed while in the service.  Student's annual income including parental support may not exceed $5,000.  Student must attend the U.C., Cal State, or California Community College system.  Fee waiver includes tuition and incidental fees.  Contact local county veteran's service office. 
 
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS NATIONAL AUXILIARY PATRIOTIC ART COMPETITION:
 
Five prizes annually from $1,000 to $3,500 to students who are United States citizens and submit ART WORKS depicting a patriotic theme.  Top winner also receives an all expense, paid weekend at the Academy of Achievement.  Contact Public Relations Director, Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W., 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.  Deadline is April 15.
 
WAL-MART/SAM’S CLUB FOUNDATION:
 
$1,000 awards to high school seniors, one per Wal-Mart community. Log onto www.walmartfoundation.org for more information.  Applications are available at www.scholarshipadministrators.net.  Use Access Code SWCS.  Entry deadline is January 20.
 
WASHINGTON CROSSING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:
 
$5,000 to students planning on a CAREER IN GOVERNMENT OR PUBLIC SERVICE.  Must submit a 300-word essay on why student is choosing a career in government (local, state, federal).  Contact Washington Crossing Foundation, P.O. Box 503, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19058-0503 or to go www.gwcf.org .  Deadline to apply is January 15.
 
WESTERN GOLF ASSOCIATION:
 
Evans Scholars Foundation annually awards approximately 200 four-year scholarships to qualified CADDIES. Eligibility for Evans Scholarship:  candidates must have completed junior year in high school and rank in upper 25% of class, MUST HAVE CADDIED FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO YEARS, and must require financial assistance to attend college.  Applications available by writing to Western Golf Association Scholarship Committee, One Briar Rd., Golf, IL 60029, (847) 724-4600.  Application deadline is September 30.
 

WOMEN’S WESTERN GOLF FOUNDATION:

These $2000 scholarships are intended for females with high academic achievement, financial need, and an involvement with golf.  You do not have to be good, just involved!  The application is due in April and can be obtained by writing to Women’s Western Golf Foundation, 393 Ramsay Rd., Deerfield, IL 60015 or at www.wwga.org.  Apply by March 1.

Y-MEN'S INTERNATIONAL ALEXANDER SCHOLARSHIP LOAN FUND:
 
Twenty to twenty-five scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500 to seniors who intend to major in BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR YOUTH LEADERSHIP who have good grades and who AGREE TO YMCA PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AND EMPLOYMENT AFTER COLLEGE.  Recommendation is required from a YMCA director.  Contact Area Service Director, Alexander Scholarship-Loan Fund, 1825 Dorothea, Berkley, MI  48072.  Send a self-addressed stamped envelope (75¢).  Application deadline is May 1.
 
YORBA LINDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Applicants must be in enrolled in the PYLUSD, have an overall GPA of 2.5 or better, and demonstrate STRONG community involvement and/or work experience.  Academic achievement and financial need are also considered. 
 
YORBA LINDA WOMEN'S CLUB ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Three $1,000 awards to seniors who are YORBA LINDA RESIDENTS and who have exhibited academic achievement (minimum 3.0 G.P.A.), leadership, and extra-curricular, community and church involvement.  An essay is required. 
 
YORBA LINDA WOMEN’S CLUB VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP:
 
One $1000 scholarship for a senior who lives in Yorba Linda with a minimum 2.5 GPA who will attend a vocational school within 6 months of graduation from high school. 
 
YORBA SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP:
 
One $500 award to an Esperanza senior who has participated in COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES outside of normal school classes, clubs and offices.  Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. 
 
YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES FOUNDATION:
 
$250 plus awards to HISPANIC seniors; at least one parent must be of Latin-American origin.  Must have 3.8 minimum GPA, SATs of 1000 or higher, and be admissible to the University of California system but do not have to attend a UC campus.  Must have financial need (top income for family of four - $60,000 per year.)  Must demonstrate leadership and academic achievement.  Contact Youth Opportunities Foundation, Attn.
