HAL CONNOLLY SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD FOR THE DISABLED:

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
 
The Hispanic High School Scholarship Program is available to graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0). Students must have definite plans of attending a college or university the following fall semester after graduation. Students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university to receive their scholarship. HORACE MANN SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Twelve $1,000 to $20,000 scholarships awarded to seniors who are DEPENDENTS OF A PARENT EMPLOYED BY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT OR PUBLIC COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY.  Must have minimum 3.0 GPA and 1100 on SAT.  Application, essay, letters of recommendation, transcript, and PROOF OF COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES are required.  Contact Scholarship Program, Horace Mann Companies, P.O. HORATIO ALGER CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:

HORIZONS MAGAZINE VIETNAMESE-AMERICAN WRITING CONTEST:

INROADS TO THE STAR SCHOLARSHIP:

JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION:

JAPANESE AMERICAN CITIZENS LEAGUE FRESHMEN AWARDS:

KOSCIUSZKO FOUNDATION AWARDS FOR AMERICANS OF POLISH BACKGROUND:

LA ESTRELLA LATINA DE CARL’S JR. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
 
This scholarship is for students of Hispanic heritage who plan to continue their education.  Recipients will be selected based on academic record, leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, and educational and career goals.  Financial need and unusual personal or family circumstances, as well as each applicant’s short essay on why he or she is a star in the community will be considered.  Applications can be picked up at participating Carl’s Jr. restaurants in January, or can be downloaded at www.carlsjr.com.
 
LADIES AUXILIARY TO THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS YOUNG AMERICAN PATRIOTIC ART AWARD:

LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL/DEPENDENT SCHOLARSHIPS:

Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship:
 
In conjunction with the L.A. Watts Summer Games, over twenty $2,000 scholarships are being offered to Southern California seniors who contribute to their community through volunteer efforts, participate in athletic or artistic activities in school or community, have a strong academic record, and have strong letters of recommendation. 
 
MAKARIOS SCHOLARSHIPS FUND, INC.:

MARINE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION:

MENSA EDUCATION AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION ESSAY CONTEST:

MICROSOFT:

Microsoft offers full one-year tuition scholarships to seniors with a minimum 3.0 who will major in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline such as math or physics, with an interest in computer science.  Information is available at www.microsoft.com/college/scholarships.  Applications must be postmarked by January 31.
 
 
MINNIE PEARL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:

NATIONAL ACTION COUNCIL FOR MINORITIES IN ENGINEERING:

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AND THE HERFF-JONES COMPANY LEADERSHIP AWARD:
 
150 national scholarships of $1,000.  ONE ESPERANZA SENIOR CAN BE NOMINATED for the Principal's Leadership Award.  The nominee will complete an application that makes note of participation in clubs, service organizations, and athletics; achieve­ment in arts and sciences, and academic record (top 10% of class). 
 
NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION:

NATIONAL SPACE CLUB DR. ROBERT GODDARD HISTORICAL ESSAY AWARD:

One $500 award to an Esperanza senior with a GPA of 3.5 - 4.0.  Must also have exhibited heavy involvement in extra-curricular AND community activities.  Letters of recommendation required.
 

ORANGE COUNTY CENTENNIAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP:

Students who plan to major in the arts and who have a strong record of community service and leadership are eligible for this scholarship.  Particular attention will be given to training, honors, and achievement in the arts.  Applications are available at www.oc.cf.org. 
 
ORANGE COUNTY CENTENNIAL FINE ARTS AWARD:
 
Three $2000 awards to Orange County seniors who are completing their last three years of high school in Orange County and who intend to enroll in an accredited program of training in FINE OR PERFORMING ARTS such as music, dance, sculpture, or drama.  Recipients are SELECTED on basis of demonstrated record of community SERVICE and LEADERSHIP.  Applications are available at www.oc-cf.org .

 
ORANGE COUNTY CENTENNIAL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
 
Six $500 to $2,500 awards to Orange County seniors who intend to pursue higher education at an accredited university.  Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership, and participation in school AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES, statement of goals, and recommendations.  SAT scores MUST EXCEED 1350 total.  Applications are available at www.oc-cf.org
 
ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CAVANAGH JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP:
Scholarships for students who will major in journalism and who demonstrate financial need.  Applications are available at www.oc.cf.org. 
 
Orange County Community Foundation Mac Pherson Award For Career Training:
This scholarship is designed to help students who wish to pursue a vocational or technical education at an Orange County community college.  Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.  Approximately 20 awards of $500-$5000 each will be given.  Applications are available at www.oc-cf.org .
 
ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MARK S. HAUNFELNER SCHOLARSHIP:
Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and be planning to attend school full-time next year.  Financial assistance and the student’s values are of the utmost importance.  Applications are available at www.oc-cf.org .
 
ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MICHAEL A. HUNTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is offered nationwide to students who are leukemia patients and/or are children of non-surviving leukemia patients.  Students must provide proof by a doctor.  They must also be a full-time student, demonstrate financial need, and have a 3.0 GPA.  Applications can be found at www.oc-cf.org. 
 
ORANGE COUNTY HISPANIC EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND:
 
This scholarship provides aid for Orange County Hispanic students with demonstrated financial need.  Application includes a personal statement, a transcript, and at least one letter of recommendation.
 
ORANGE COUNTY TEACHERS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION MEMBER EDUCATION AWARD:
 
$500 awards to graduating SENIORS who are MEMBERS OF THE OCTFCU.  Must have a MINIMUM 3.0 GPA, participate in community affairs, and demonstrate special achievement.    Applications available on line beginning November 1st at www.octfcu.org or call 714-258-4000, extension 8568. 
 
ORANGE COUNTY TEACHERS CREDIT UNION WORTHY STUDENT AWARD:
 
One $300 award to an Esperanza senior who is planning on ENTERING THE TEACHING OR BUSINESS FIELD upon graduation from college.  Esperanza counselors nominate on basis of academic and extra-curricular achievement and need. 
 
PARENT-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION COUNCIL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
 
One award to an Esperanza senior who has an overall G.P.A. of 2.75 to 4.0, has been accepted to a 2 or 4-year college, and has received no other monetary award by May 25.  Student must have the characteristics of ambition, sincerity, diligence, initiative, high moral character, and good citizenship in school, community, and home, and be a member of PTSA. 
 
PHI  DELTA  KAPPA, INC.:
 
Scholarship grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for students who plan to pursue a career in TEACHING.  Selections based on scholastic achievement, school and community activities, recommendations and an essay. 
 
PILAR SEGUIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
 
This scholarship is given in memory of Pilar Seguin a beloved Spanish teacher at Esperanza for many years.  Scholarships will be awarded based on academics, extra curricular involvement, and character to a student or students who plan to enter the field of education.
 
PLACENTIA-LINDA EDUCATORS MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP:
 
$300 to one Esperanza senior who is planning on ENTERING THE FIELD OF EDUCATION.  Must have demonstrated positive citizenship, must have a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher, must be accepted to a 4-year university, and must have participated in extra-curricular activities.  Esperanza counselors will nominate. 
 
 
PLACENTIA-LINDA HOSPITAL GUILD:
 
The Guild of the Placentia-Linda Hospital offers scholarships to students who plan to enter a career related to medicine.  A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.  The application includes a statement of career goals, a resume of activities and accomplishments, and a current transcript.
 
PLACENTIA MAYOR'S SCHOLARSHIP:
 
$500 scholarship to senior who is a PLACENTIA RESIDENT.  Must have 3.0 TO 3.5 G.P.A., plan on going to a two or four year college, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and have some financial need.  Esperanza counselors may nominate two students. 
 
PRIVATE COLLEGES AND TRADE/TECH COLLEGES:
 
Each year over one-half of the students attending private colleges, universities, and trade/technical schools receive some kind of grant assistance.  The independents and techs raise their own scholarship money for talented and/or needy students.  Only by applying to a private school will a student find out how much financial aid one could receive.  Awards are based on academic achievement and/or financial need.  (Let them decide whether or not you are needy).   CONTACT THE INDIVIDUAL COLLEGE/SCHOOL'S FINANCIAL AID OFFICE IMMEDIATELY AFTER MAKING APPLICATION.  Also complete the FAFSA AND the CSS PROFILE (if required).
 
QUILL AND SCROLL FOUNDATION EDWARD J. NELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:

RMHCSC/SCHOLARS OF TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIP:
 
25 $1000 scholarships will be given to students demonstrating financial need, character, leadership, and a minimum 3.0 GPA. 
 
ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
 
$1,500 scholarships are available solely on the basis of merit, including unweighted GPA and SAT scores.  A minimum SAT score of 1350 is required.  Students must submit a fact sheet about themselves including this information, as well as other accomplishments and college plans.
 
Ronald Mc Donald House Charities Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Program:
$1,000 scholarships available to students of Asian Pacific Heritage who show community involvement, cultural awareness, leadership, and participation in extra curricular activities. 
 
Ronald McDonald House Charities Hispanic Commitment to Educational Resources Scholarship Program:
 
The largest scholarship for Hispanic-Americans provides money to seniors with at least one parent of Hispanic background who demonstrates financial need and potential for future contributions to the community.  The application includes a personal statement and a letter of recommendation.  More information can be obtained by visiting www.rmhc.org
 
RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES PRIDE AND LEADERSHIP FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS:
 
Scholarships to seniors of African-American heritage who have a minimum 3.0 GPA, exhibit qualities of high moral character, demonstrate leadership in the school or community, and have participated in community service.  The application includes a 250 word essay. 
 
RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM:
