MSA Students In Action
In recognition of September being Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, Esperanza's Medical Sciences Academy members are doing their part in bringing awareness to our community! A large portion of Esperanza's Health Occupations Students of America's (otherwise known as HOSA) activities brings community awareness to a multitude of pressing issues, whether it may be local or global.
For the week of September 27th, Esperanza's Medical Academy organized a school-wide awareness week covering pediatric cancer. Procuring immense participation and support from their school, Esperanza was able to make a significant impact in its community.
Esperanza's two main events were "Cardmaking for Kendra" and a "Miracle Minute."
With the intent of sending encouraging messages to a 16-year-old Leukemia patient named Kendra, students came out to make over 100 cards to send! As for the "Miracle Minute," students collectively raised over $1,600 to donate to pediatric cancer organizations!
With this only being the first service-learning project to come from Esperanza's Medical Academy for the 2021-2022 school year, we are all very excited to see what they are capable of achieving next!
